Sub-Agent (Civils)

About the role

REX Civil Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Sub Agent to join our team, working initially out of one of our highways contracts in Birmingham Centre.

Role Description:

To assist in leading and controlling a section of the works, according to a specific discipline. Management of a team of Section Engineers, Site Engineers and apprentice Engineers within the construction delivery.

What you'll be doing

• Responsible for promoting health, safety and welfare of the team

• Liaise with designer to resolve technical issues

• Allocate tasks to engineering team and supervise them to completion

• Produce and monitor a fully resourced stage programme in an accepted format / software

• Understand, evaluate and monitor the cost and value of the section of works under delivery

• Draft correspondence and associated supportive documentation to sub-contractors, suppliers and client

• Ensure that the work is delivered to the required engineering specification

• Maintain and progress quality/handover documentation through progressive completion and delegation.

Who we're looking for

• Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity, including managing others in this regard

• Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility

• Excellent team player, able to work competently and independently without continuous supervision

• Strong communication skills with solution orientated approach to issue resolution

• Previous experience of working on road/interchange construction delivery

• Knowledge of mentoring and developing emerging talent

This allows us to very quickly develop our staff in new area's with the support of our clients.

 

Qualifications and experience:

> Civil Engineering related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)

> Experience to be assessed on individual basis

> CSCS Card

> Strong understanding of typical construction methods

> Strong understanding of Specification for Highways Works

​

Remuneration Package(s) available:

- Base Salary £40,000 - £49,000 (Maximum 50 hours per week) + Overtime rates for outside of core hours

- Pension Contribution

- Paid Annual Leave entitlement

- Vehicle Allowance & Fuel Card

- Subsistence/Living away allowance
